Obituary for William Honsel
William S. Honsel, Hall of Fame Bowler, age 90, of Coplay PA, passed away in the comfort of his home on Thursday, February 17, 2022. He was the loving husband of Yolanda Honsel (Suto).
Born in Coplay, he was the son of the late John and Anna Honsel (Spirk).
He worked at the former Lehigh Valley Dairy and Beatrice Cheese Inc. for 44 years before retiring in 1994. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Bill was very involved in his community with memberships including a lifetime member of the Coplay Saengerbund, The American Club of Coplay, VFW post of Allentown, The American Legion of Catasaqua, a life Member of the Alliance Fire Co. of Northampton, member of the Coplay Fire Co, the West Coplay Maennerchor and he was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Coplay.
Bill was an avid bowler in the Leigh Valley Area and a member of the Allentown District Hall of Fame. He bowled in 40 ABC’s Tournaments.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughters, Susan wife of John H. Solt, Jr., Carol wife of Robert Eck and Constance wife of Mike Ancelitz, 5 granddaughters and 4 great grandchildren, Brother James and Sister Margaret Hollenbach.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in passing by his siblings John, Joseph, Bertha, Anna, Helen, Pauline, and Elsa.
A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Allentown Funeral and Cremation Services, 3438 Route 309 Orefield PA 18069. Family and Friends may call from 10am until the time of the service.
