Obituary for Steffen Vierheilig

Steffen Vierheilig, age 44 of Hanover Township passed away surrounded by his loving wife and children on August 8, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Bethlehem. He was born in November of 1976 in Wuerzburg, Germany.

Steffen was a loving and devoted husband and father - a true family man, who always put his family’s needs above his own. Throughout his life, he was committed to everything he started. First and foremost his family and friends, but also to the company he worked for for 25 years, the Bosch-Rexroth Corp., most recently as the Director for Finance and Controlling for the Bethlehem Location. Steffen loved his job, he loved the people he worked with and much like in his personal life, he treated people how he wanted to be treated. He had high expectations of himself and of everyone involved in a project.

Steffen’s fierce loyalty also showed in his passion and support for his favorite sports teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the FC Bayern Munich. A win or a loss could make or break the mood for at least the next few hours. Steffen never had time to waste. He was always up for an outdoor adventure with his family and friends. Traveling, hiking, kayaking or working out - anything active was right up his alley. Just last summer, when Robin fell in love with fishing, they went out and got the full gear. He was really looking forward to learning this new hobby together with his son. Active days were usually followed by a good meal, a craft IPA and a bourbon. He just loved life and always tried to make every second count. Even after the longest work days, he was never too tired to pick up Elin from gymnastics or to bring his kids to bed, read a book and sing a song. He was very caring, ambitious, humble, generous and his witty and dry sense of humor will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Elin; son, Robin; mother, Margarete Bauer; father, Waldemar Vierheilig; brother Thomas Vierheilig with wife; mother-in-law, Ulrike Nicklas; bother, Gregory Nicklas with family.

Steffen’s family will be forever grateful for all the love and support they have received from family and friends during this most difficult time. A special thank you to all the staff at St. Luke’s Hospice House.

A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 pm on Wednesday, August 25 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020), followed by a Celebration of Life at The Clubhouse Grill at the Bethlehem Golf Club (400 Illick’s Mill Road, Bethlehem, PA 18017). Inurnment will be in Germany at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steffen’s memory to his children’s education fund.
