Mary Frances (Graeber) Ford, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend entered into heaven, on August 19, 2023 after a three-month illness through which she fought valiantly.
Mary Frances was born on July 10,1950 in Shamokin, PA to Edgar and Mary LaRue (Stank) Graeber. She was the third of four children, growing up with two older brothers, George (Nick) and Edgar (Gary) and receiving her sister, Elizabeth (Dede), as an 8th birthday gift! Mary Frances graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1968 and then from airline school in Connecticut. She worked for a major airline company in NYC until 1972 when she moved to Colorado to work for Frontier Airlines. In the suburbs of Denver Mary Frances met her husband Larry, and they married in 1976. They welcomed two children, Stefanie and Spencer. In 1988, the four moved back to Pennsylvania where Mary Frances continued to thrive in what she would call the best job of her life, being an incredible mother. Once her children became school-age, she worked as an assistant teacher and later, a job coach for the Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit. During her hospital stay, Mary Frances saw two of her former students who both noted that the skills she taught directly helped them obtain and succeed at their current jobs. She absolutely delighted in becoming a Nana to her two miracle granddaughters, Sophie and Hannah.
Mary Frances is predeceased by her parents Edgar and Mary LaRue, her brother Nick and her grandson Jack. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her loyal husband Larry, her devoted children Stefanie (Steven) and Spencer, her adoring granddaughters Sophie and Hannah, her brother Gary, sister Dede, sisters-in-law Pat, Sally and Mary Lynn and brothers-in-law George and Jerry along with many nieces and nephews and close friends.
A private family service is being planned. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in Mary Frances’ memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org or (800) 822-6344.
