Obituary for Kelley Moore (Butterworth)

Kelley Sue Moore, age 54, passed away peacefully May 7, 2023 due to Stage 4 Lung Cancer. Kelley was born September 13, 1968 in Allentown Hospital in Allentown, PA to Randall and Nancy Butterworth. Kelley married the love of her life and best friend, Greg Moore, February 14, 1997 on Valentine’s Day.

Kelley loved to love on people. She was often found thinking of others, preparing gifts bags, sending text messages, slipping notes, and reminding those that needed positivity that she loved them. Kelley was the master middle school girls’ basketball coach. She maintained amazing friendships with several of her players and some of their parents over the years. Kelley was a huge Bethlehem Bulldogs fan and a faithful Freedom High School Patriots football fan. She never missed a game up until her diagnosis. Kelley could be heard loud and clear in the stands on a Friday night. Kelley was also an avid Virginia Tech Hokies fan and was regularly seen strolling around proudly in her maroon and orange Hokie attire. Kelley was rarely still. She always found ways to share her love with so many and always put others woes and struggles in life before her own.

For many years Kelley taught at Wilson Area Intermediate School, the very same middle school that she attended as a child. It was at Wilson Area Intermediate School where Kelley touched so many lives with her tireless efforts to teach and care for her students while establishing countless friendships amongst her co-workers. Kelley was the sunshine in the building that others could enjoy each day. Her radiant smile and kindness attracted so many. Kelley leaves a legacy of care and concern for all of her students and the many other lives that she touched.

Kelley loves the Lord and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the year 2000. She would end up serving in the church with love and compassion for all for many years. She enjoyed working with the young women of the church. She also loved teaching the women of the church in her Relief Society calling. Kelley always loved and had a special place in her heart for little children and enjoyed serving when she could in the Primary. Kelley’s life was a living example of one of her favorite scriptures, Matthew 18:4 “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Kelley is survived by her parents Randall and Nancy Butterworth, sister and husband Melissa and Gordie Heft, her husband Greg Moore, her six sons; Jacob Moore, Kaden Moore, Braelin Moore, Jordyn Moore, Ky Moore, and Jaryn Moore and her daughter Gabrielle Moore; plus, one stepson Brian Moore. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Please join us in celebrating the life of a pure angel Thursday morning May 11, 2023. Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1881 Van Buren Dr, Whitehall, PA from 11:00 a.m. noon until noon. Funeral services will begin in the chapel at 12 p.m. followed by travel to Kelley’s final resting place on earth at Nisky Hill Cemetery in Bethlehem.
