Life Story for Francis Beller

Francis W. Beller, 81, affectionately known to family and friends as Sonny or Frannie, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. He was the loving husband of Dorothy for 61 years.

Born in Allentown, Francis was a son of the late Ervin and Corrine Beller. He was a hard worker; as a teenager, he worked in a grocery store. Upon graduating from Allentown High School in 1955, he went on to work in the automotive industry for 10 years. He went on to find a home with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. At 39, he suffered a back injury on the job and was retired as a letter carrier for 5 years. During this time, he completed an associate degree in accounting at Lehigh County Community College. Only after a second back surgery was he able to return to his career at the Postal Service, retiring with 33 years of service.

Francis enjoyed fishing, sailing, gardening, cooking, and being in nature. Faith and spirituality were important throughout his life. He was always giving to others and would lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Above all, he valued family and truly loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Francis is survived by his sisters Elizabeth Hilbert, Harriet Dietrich, Shirley Spohn, and Penny Goldberg and husband Larry; brothers Ervin and Carby and wife Diane; son Glenn and wife Judy; his grandchildren Ryan and wife Rebecca, Jeremiah and wife Jessica, Travis and partner Saudy, and Alyssa; great-grandchildren Paige, Ella, Hailey, Alexis, and Maxwell. He was predeceased by his sister Catherine Christine.
