Obituary for Elena Rivera
Elena Rivera, age 60, passed away peacefully on May 15th 2023. Elena was born in Brooklyn,NY on September 13, 1962 to Antonia (Tonita) Rivera and Angel (Papo) Rivera Sr.. Elena married the love of her life and best friend, Sarita Rivera on August 19, 2022 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Elena’s heart knew no bounds. She had a way with people, making them feel seen, heard and loved. She was often thinking of others, giving them a place to stay, a job to do, a conversation to hold on to. Elena dedicated 13 years of her professional life working for Verizon Communications and then Amazon. Elena’s greatest joy however, was found in her role as bus driver for the Allentown school system where she worked with children who needed extra assistance. She always found ways to share her love and light with so many, often putting others woes and struggles before her own.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Elena was a jack of all trades. She was passionate about home improvement projects, gardening and taking care of her parents who also doubled as her neighbors. Elena was loved by all who met her. She was often making friends with folks she had just met and played instrumental roles in the lives of her loved ones. To love Elena was to love her sense of humor, her tough love, and the light she carried with her. She was the cornerstone of her family, involved in all things good that occurred and always the first one to find a way to make things right. Elena leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity and strength to all of those whose lives she touched.
Elena is survived by her parents Antonia and Angel Rivera Sr., her wife Sarita Rivera, her daughter Carmen Giselle Minsal, as well as her brothers Angel Luis Rivera Jr. and Angel Rivera. She will be reunited with her youngest brother, Jerry Rivera, in heaven. She will be missed dearly by all who loved her.
