Obituary for Cheryl Martrich (Zboyovsky)

Cheryl was born on November 21, 1946 to Agnes (Evans) and Edward Zboyovsky. She grew up in Fountain Hill in Bethlehem, PA. Throughout her life she expressed her creativity. She loved crafts and scrapbooking, but her passion showed in sewing and cooking. She adorned her children with hand-made clothes, Halloween costumes, and Barbie doll clothes. She made heirloom keepsakes for her children’s weddings and a Christening gown for her granddaughter.

Cheryl’s culinary passion was evident in every meal she prepared and she was always trying new recipes. She completed Wilton cake decorating classes and designed cakes for her family’s birthdays and holidays over the years. Cheryl also worked in various roles in the food industry waitressing, cooking and catering.

She shared her passions, creativity and organization with her community serving as the director of a youth cheerleading league and more recently, organizing bingo social events in her apartment complex. For decades, she also spread her love of cooking in a local newspaper’s weekly recipe exchange. For over 40 years, Cheryl and her pen-pal Carol, swapped crafts, recipes, stories and friendship. Although they never met in person, their friendship and letters continued until Carol’s passing seven years ago.

Cheryl enjoyed outdoor activities including riding motorcycles and camping. For years she spent weeks in the summer and fall at local campgrounds. She especially loved taking her grandson on camping trips.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Wayne; daughters, Joell and Kimi; her stepdaughter, Jody; her five grandchildren, Ian, Anthony, Alexis, Max and Ben; her two step-grandchildren, Bill and Casey; her step great-grandson, Nathan; her sister, Sherry; her nephew Jaz; her nieces, Tammy and Cindy; and former husband, Joseph.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Agnes; her father, Edward and her sister, Sandra.

Her children will pay tribute to her life with a private family memorial.
